Small Business Saturday is finally here and we can’t wait to see you! 🛍 We’re open in Valley Junction until 6pm!
Honored to be part of such a cool story and proud to be an Iowa State University Alumni. Go Cyclones!Abby Sharp (‘12 landscape architecture), owns Heart of Iowa Market Place, selling products like pasta and wine, to cutting boards and candles – all made by small vendors in Iowa.
Last year during the pandemic their orders of gift boxes and baskets tripled, shipping all over the U.S. and internationally.
“We were able to elevate a lot of other small businesses,” said Sharp. “When any major corporation comes to us for gift boxes, we only source small vendors here in Iowa. A lot of grocery stores or chains carry items that are majorly manufactured. We prefer to stick to the small ones who are literally making them in their kitchens themselves and not outsourcing things.”
